Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
