Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For a person with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
