A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in the group home might be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at one point live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, however it is a feasible temporary option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
