TRICARE is health care insurance that's offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to handle alcohol and drug dependence like detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will of course have to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of treatment service, that may be organized with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient center could be the favored rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits about how much time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very beneficial, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
