Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days a week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab programs which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation alternative.
