Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be worthwhile in circumstances where conventional rehab facilities have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations in the women's life which can be unique and traumatic. Such issues may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, or any other significant issues which can be particular to women. Studies show that women also can get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and therefore are more predisposed to sickness because of dependency problems than males consequently. Due to responsibilities in the home, women also tend to postpone searching for and receiving care for addiction, a circumstance which can lead to catastrophe. That said, treatment services for women are created to ensure that a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Similar to coed programs, drug treatment facilities which offer rehabilitation solutions to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both common and gender specific issues which may have brought about their drug or alcohol use. Women also may take advantage of the beneficial support from other female peers, and some programs which offer treatment services to women provide client beds for her children.
