Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or several days weekly. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
