Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for those who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
