Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to take part in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
