Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time daily or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
