Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time every day or several days per week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
