TRICARE is medical health insurance that is offered to members of the armed forces of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different treatment services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be required to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any kind of rehabilitation service, which may be organized with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility is the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits concerning how much time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very beneficial, as it can certainly help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional treatment counselors ready to help today.
