Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time every day or several days weekly. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For somebody with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment choice.
