A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in a group home could be getting involved in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to be able to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable temporary option for many who want to get their lives back together.
