Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which offer rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
