A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside inside a group home may be getting involved in rehab services while in residence, or could possibly be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live on their own outside the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a feasible short-term option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
