LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is often a very difficult or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to numb this pain. Someone that is LGBT might not exactly feel safe in a conventional rehabilitation center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they may be experiencing of their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehab counselors issues which have to be resolved in order to get well. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their loved ones, in the event their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, and it is an illustration of a thing that will be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
