Medicaid is a type of health care insurance available for those who are in certain income brackets which qualifies them to receive this government provided insurance coverage. Whether someone qualifies for Medicaid doesn't only depend upon income however, and individuals shouldn't presume they don't qualify simply because they make a reasonable income. For instance, men and women who have many dependents may be entitled to Medicaid even if they earn what would be considered a reasonable income. Medicaid also can cover the costs of rehab, when someone has been abusing alcohol or drugs and needs rehabilitation. There are numerous drug and alcohol treatment programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have distinct rules for what forms of treatment are covered. Some states only include outpatient rehabilitation services for example while other states cover more intensive rehabilitation say for example a residential stay in long-term drug rehab program. If someone is involved with drug abuse and wants help, they're able to use their Medicaid health coverage to get this treatment. If they do not have Medicaid and in addition don't have the money or another kind of medical health insurance to cover rehab, they could check if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then enroll in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program that is approved in their state.
