Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
