A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which offers continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help offer an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside inside a group home might be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it's a feasible short-term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together.
