A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. Rather than sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. Residents inside a group home may be involved in treatment services during residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home in order to at some time live independently away from the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent solution, yet it's a viable short term option for many who are trying to get their lives back together.
