LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This is often a quite challenging or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Someone who is LGBT may not feel relaxed in a conventional rehab center amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment that is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which must be handled so that they can get well. Rehabilitation counselors within a LGBT rehab can help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the event that their family disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is certainly a common trigger for drug use, and is an illustration of something can be handled in rehabilitation.
