Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may trigger drug use, or dangerous sexual conduct due to drug abuse may have caused the person to contract the disease. Individuals who have HIV/AIDS, either due to their drug use or as a pre-existing problem before their drug abuse problem, often require rehab services tailored to satisfy their specific demands and challenges. Some of these problems are physical in nature, due to the fact that substance abusers with HIV/AIDS almost never care for themselves and take the appropriate medicines they need to preserve their health. Therefore, they arrive to rehab in very poor health and this will have to be handled as a priority while also dealing with other critical issues. Apart from the obvious necessity to deliver medical services during rehabilitation, people who have HIV/AIDS also have to address deeper problems which prompted their alcohol or drug use. Usually, individuals have situations in their lives which are strictly environmental which may have caused them to use alcohol or drugs, like oppressive situations within their lives or damaging relationships. These are the concerns which rehabilitation counselors will target as part of HIV/AIDS rehabilitation services.
