LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is often an extremely tough and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to numb these feelings. Someone that is LGBT may not feel safe inside a conventional rehabilitation program amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which should be handled so that they can get better. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, and it is a good example of a thing that would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
