Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in situations where conventional treatment settings have fallen short, such as dealing with situations inside a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such difficulties may pertain to sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and being a mother, and other serious issues which are specific to women. Research shows that women also can get embroiled in drug abuse more easily than men, and so are more predisposed to sickness as a result of drug abuse problems than males because of this. Because of duties in their home, women also tend to postpone searching for and receiving treatment, a situation which can lead to disaster. That said, treatment services for women are created to ensure a women's needs would be the focus and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, drug rehab centers which provide rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a 1st step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both standard and gender-specific concerns which may have triggered their drug abuse. Women also may take advantage of the beneficial support from other female peers, and several centers which provide rehab services to women also provide client beds for her kids.
