A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and also have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents within a group home may be involved in rehab services while in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at some time live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a sensible temporary option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together.
