A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability within their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home could be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home to be able to at some time live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable temporary option for many who are trying to get their lives back together again.
