A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which offers continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending people who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home will help offer an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in a group home could possibly be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some point live on their own away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, yet it's a viable temporary option for individuals who are attempting to get their lives back together.
