Offering gender-specific treatment services has shown to be very useful in circumstances where conventional rehab facilities have not meet expectations, for example dealing with situations within a women's life that are unique and painful. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or another really serious issues which are specific to women. Studies show that women also can get involved in abusing drugs more readily than men, and so are more vulnerable to illness due to dependency problems than males as a result. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to postpone seeking out and undergoing treatment, a situation which can lead to disaster. With this in mind, rehab services for women are created to ensure a women's needs will be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a starting point. After this step, counselors help women target both general and gender specific problems who have brought about their drug abuse. Women also benefit from the beneficial support from other female peers, and some centers which offer treatment services to women offer client beds for their children.
