A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in a group home may be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or might be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at one point live on their own outside of the group home. As an example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable short-term option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together.
