Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide treatment to address both mental health and addiction concerns simultaneously. Dual diagnosis is a very prevalent circumstance for those involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as people who have mental health problems frequently self medicate with alcohol and drugs to experience some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. Treatment counselors will work to spot environmental issues in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things that need to be addressed in order for the individual to remain mentally stable and sober t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehabilitation which will help them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are better able to handle life circumstances well if they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to drugs and alcohol as an inferior option.
