Medicare is a form of health insurance created by the government for seniors, along with those that have certain disabilities and illnesses. If a person that has Medicare needs rehab for cases of substance abuse, their rehabilitation will be either covered fully by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant degree. The only catch is, the individual will have to receive treatment coming from a drugs and alcohol detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be permitted to start rehabilitation, they may also have to visit their primary care physician who must state that treatment services are medically essential, and the physician will generally approve what sort of rehabilitation the person will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation services. Medicare Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted program when the individual has to be in a hospital because of their issue, and the costs that they will have to pay for personally are identical to any other hospital stay. Medicare Part B will partly cover outpatient treatment in the Medicare accepted program, and the individual will need to cover whatever Part B doesn't cover with supplemental insurance or they will have to self pay.
