TRICARE is health care insurance that's provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide treatment to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to handle drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will of course have to have a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehab service, which can be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility will be the favored treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this particular center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are particular limits concerning how much time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very useful, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
