A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents inside a group home could be involved in treatment services during residence, or could be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a sensible short-term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
