Offering gender-specific treatment services has proven very useful in situations where conventional treatment facilities have not meet expectations, for example coping with situations within a women's life that are unique and painful. Such difficulties may relate to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or other really serious issues that are specific to women. Studies show that women may also get involved in substance abuse more easily than men, and are more predisposed to illness as a result of dependency issues than males because of this. Because of obligations in their home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can lead to disaster. That said, rehabilitation services for women are created to ensure a women's needs would be the concentration and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, drug rehabilitation centers that provide rehab services to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a 1st step. Following this step, counselors help women focus on both general and gender-specific problems who have brought about their drug abuse. Women also benefit from the constructive support from their female peers, and a few centers that provide treatment services to women provide client beds for her kids.
