Hearing impaired persons generally have a greater probability of substance abuse issues due to their impairment, and rehabilitation services have to be available to them which cater to their circumstances. However, drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselors who offer rehabilitation to hearing impaired individuals see the challenges that these clients face. ASL treatment services are definitely a must, as are rehab services which address the unique challenges that hearing impaired individuals encounter. Group therapy provides a venue for important peer support in order that treatment clients can know they are not on their own, and that there is hope to resolve their challenge with alcohol and drugs. Individual counseling services might be more tailor-made for each individual so that their own personal challenges can be remedied in treatment.
