LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially depraved. This may be a very difficult and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a life of drug use to alleviate this pain. Somebody who is LGBT might not feel comfortable in a conventional rehab center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT facility provides an environment which is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and treatment counselors problems which have to be handled to be able to get well. Rehab counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in the case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is certainly a frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is a good example of an issue that will be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence in order to lead a wholesome life without any drugs and alcohol.
