Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days per week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small number of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which offer rehab over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
