Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or a few days each week. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs that provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehab choice.
