Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation option.
