People who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially depraved. This is sometimes a very hard and painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug use to numb this pain. Somebody who is LGBT might not feel at ease inside a traditional treatment facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT facility offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which have to be handled to enable them to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in case their family disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for substance abuse, and is also a good example of something will be handled in rehab.
