A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending those who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home may help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home may be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some time live independently away from the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, however it is a practical temporary option for many who making the effort to get their lives back together.
