A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents inside a group home could be taking part in rehab services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some point live on their own not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, however it is a viable short-term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together again.
