Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time every day or several days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For an individual with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
