Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment you might normally have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time every day or a few days per week. This is helpful for those who have just completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab option.
