Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days a week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment option.
