Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug use which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
