TRICARE is health insurance that's provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would think, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to handle drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, as well as treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People who have TRICARE will naturally be asked to get a prior authorization before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in such a facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very useful, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors waiting to help today.
