Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment you might ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time daily or a few days per week. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial treatment option.
