LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This can be a quite challenging or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to alleviate this pain. Someone who is LGBT might not exactly feel comfortable inside a traditional rehab program amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing within their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment which can be totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely comfortable and safe divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors issues which need to be resolved so that they can recover. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family, in the event their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for substance abuse, and is also an example of a thing that can be resolved in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and create confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life free from alcohol and drugs.
